Magnitude 6.3 Earthquake Hits Off Calatagan, Batangas
Tremors Felt in Luzon, Halting Some Operations

A strong magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck off the coast of Calatagan, Batangas, on Thursday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The quake, which occurred at 5:22 AM local time, was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 82 kilometers. According to PHIVOLCS, it was felt as Intensity VI in Calatagan and as Intensity IV in Metro Manila.
The quake caused some buildings to sway and led to the temporary suspension of operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as a precautionary measure. However, all flights have since resumed.
PHIVOLCS has also issued a tsunami advisory, but it was later lifted around 6:30 AM after no significant changes in sea level were observed.
Authorities are still assessing the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake. There have been no immediate reports of injuries or casualties.
